The metaphysics of homosexuality

I recently read "the time-traveller's wife". As you can probably guess, it stars a time travelling man, and one of the things he does, as a young adolscent, is go back in time and make out with himself. The obvious question is, is this gay or not? Not wanting to rely solely on my own judgement, I raised this with a couple of my friends while away for the long weekend.

My discoveries are that the following are, without a doubt, gay:

  • Sex with your future self who travelled back in time

  • Sex with your clone

  • Sex with a guy as part of a threesome or orgy

  • Sex with a male real doll

  • If you take a female real doll and replace it piece by piece with male parts, sex with it is gay once it involves a penis or male buttocks

Draw your own conclusions.

The future of media

Just think, there may come a day not too long from now when Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes's baby not only finds time on the network news - as baby Suri did last week on CBS - but leads the newscast. The good news is you won't have to watch it. The bad news is a lot of others will tune in and possibly find little else.

Me? I'd rather read reddit. ;-)

Hole in the wall

I contend that by the time we are 16, we are taught to want teachers, taught that we cannot learn anything without teachers.

An Indian physicist puts a PC with a high speed internet connection in a wall in the slums and watches what happens. Based on the results, he talks about issues of digital divide, computer education and kids, the dynamics of the third world getting online.

New Delhi physicist Sugata Mitra has a radical proposal for bringing his country's next generation into the Info Age.

A portrait of the artist as a schizophrenic cat

Okay, so the cat's not really schizophrenic, just the person who painted it. 4 pictures showing the progression of the illness as represented by the artist's twisting perceptions. From household pet to angry god.

Schizophrenia fascinates and terrifies me.
